WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2021 | THE STORY ON ENVIRONMENT
Long ago, there was a herd of elephants in the forests. In that herd lived Jumbo. Every morning a Woodcutter came to jungle to cut trees.
He would blow a trumpet to call the elephants. The big and strong elephants would pull down the trees and carry wooden logs to the river. The logs would float on the river and reach the town below. The woodcutter would sell these logs to make furniture and houses. He rewarded the elephants with sweet bananas. Most elephants were happy but Jumbo did not like this work.
He knew what the woodcutter was doing was not nice. Jumbo liked walking in the woods. He would eat berries and fruits from the trees. Jumbo thought, " For His Own Profit He Is Cutting Down Trees. Soon There Will Be No Place For Us To Live. "
One day as he went to bathe in the river he got an idea. He called all the animals and birds. Jumbo told them " To Save The Forest We Have To Stop The Woodcutter From Coming To Our Forest". Everyone said yes. The birds also did not like the woodcutter. When he cut the trees, their nests would fall. Jumbo whispered his idea in to the ears of the giraffe. The tall giraffe whispered that idea in to the ears of all the gathered animals. They all seemed happy. They went back jumping and clapping.
Next day, after cutting one big tree, the woodcutter became tired. He slept on a big log of wood he had cut. Jumbo quickly called hid friends by flapping his big ears. First the bird flew over the woodcutter. She came back and told Jumbo that the man is sleeping fast and snoring.
Jumbo then called the other elephants and big animals. They pulled the logs with the sleeping woodcutter to the nearby river and set it sail slowly. The river was flowing fast. In the evening when woodcutter woke up he had come very far. He knew the animals and birds did not like him cutting the trees.
So he never went back Jumbo's forest and stopped cutting trees. All the animals in the jungle came together and made Jumbo their leader. They gave him gifts. The elephants danced and the birds sang for him.
